In spite of the cold Toronto temperatures leaving us all anxiously waiting for summer to arrive, we have May Long Weekend to look forward to as the unofficial start to summer!  This year, May Long Weekend lands on May 18-20th, and if you’re not up at the cottage then not to worry because there is plenty to do in the city that weekend!

For all of the Alessia Cara fans out there, Brampton’s own is performing at the Sony Centre on Friday, May 17th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on Ticketmaster.  The Sony Centre for the Performing Arts is located at 1 Front Street East.

 

Spring Beer Fest TO

Attention all beer connoisseurs – visit Fort York Garrison Common on May 18th and 19th from 12 noon – 7:00 p.m. and take part in what is known to be one of the most sought after long-weekend events in Toronto!  Sample beer from Great Lakes Brewery, Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery, Mill St. Brewery – to name only a few.  Indulge in food from some of Toronto’s top food vendors while enjoying live music throughout the festival.  Tickets can be purchased online and include entry to the festival as well as a commemorative sampling mug.

 

Rib Fest at Yonge and Dundas

Treat your taste buds at the Yonge and Dundas Square Rib Fest! Free admission from May 16th – 19th, Yonge and Dundas Square will be featuring mouth-watering ribs from some of the best in the business across North America – Louisiana BBQ, Kentucky Smokehouse, New York BBQ and Oak & Barrel.  With ribs in one hand, you can have a refreshing beer in the other; enjoy craft beer from Craft Heads Brewing, Flying Monkeys, Barnstormer Brewing and Naughty Otter.  Not a huge rib fan?  No problem, other food vendors will also be making an appearance, offering plenty of other delicious options.  Loosen those belt buckles!

 

Let’s Go Blue Jays!

The Toronto Blue Jays play a major role in bringing Torontonian’s together during the summer, whether it be in your living room or favourite local pub/bar.  However, nothing beats cheering on our favourite MLB team in person at The Roger’s Centre.  The Toronto Blue Jays play the Boston Red Sox on Monday, May 20th at 1:07 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.  Let’s Go Blue Jays!

 

Fireworks at Ashbridges Bay Park

What better way to end off the Victoria Day Long Weekend than with some beautiful fireworks?  Visit Ashbridges Bay Park on May 20th at 9:45 p.m. and enjoy this incredible firework display along the waterfront.  Parking is available on Ashbridges Bay Park Road, but remember to arrive early as spots fill up fast.  Not interested in fighting the long-weekend traffic?  No problem – the TTC will get you here easily!  The show will go on rain or shine.
